On 9/1/21 We announced our 2021-2022 SHA Anchors. We are so proud of these students who stepped up to help their peers! Check out the video of them reciting the Anchors Pledge!

I,(student name), of Springfield Honors Academy promise to exist, to my full capacity, as an anchor for my peers. I will be a powerful model for finding moments of success in each day, and guide those in need of finding success for themselves. I will be trustworthy. I will be supportive. I will be real. Bringing hope and encouragement to my school community; my passion. Leading others to do the same; my mission. Vestri Optimus Pro Mundo.

During the Summer of 2021, SHA provided a unique experience for our current and incoming students. Camp SHAtterproof was two, 2-week sessions with academic and social workshops designed to allow students to connect to each other, the faculty, and the school!

Advanced Placement courses and testing challenge our students to be their best for the world. Congratuations to these Griffins who scored a 3 or above on the subject areas listed.

"AP Exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. Many U.S. colleges grant credit and/or advanced placement (that means they let you skip the equivalent course once you get to college) for scores of 3 and above." CollegeBoard.org

In Feb. 2020, we were thrilled to announce that the only teacher in Massachusetts to receive the Milken Educator Award was our very own Ms. Hersey! P.S. She had NO idea this was happening all for her! https://www.milkeneducatorawards.org

Additional Information about Ms. Hersey and this amazing Award!

WHat is the Milken Award?

The Milken Educator Award Website

Film has the Oscar™, music has the Grammy™, science has the Nobel and sports has its gold medals, but what about the true unsung heroes on the front lines of shaping our future? Where is the recognition for our nation’s educators? Enter Lowell Milken and the Milken Educator Awards.

For 30 years, the Milken Educator Awards, an initiative of the Milken Family Foundation, have rewarded and inspired excellence in the world of education by honoring top educators around the country with $25,000 unrestricted awards. Not an accolade for “lifetime achievement” or the proverbial gold watch at the exit door, the Milken Educator Awards targets early-to-mid career education professionals for their already impressive achievements and, more significantly, for the promise of what they will accomplish in the future.

To date, more than 2,800 Awards have been given out, totaling $70 million. The one-time award is just the beginning. Milken Educators are given access to powerful networking and development tools throughout their careers in education. When combined, more than $138 million has been devoted to the overall program.

Recipients are caught by surprise when their names are announced at emotional all-school assemblies in front of cheering students, proud colleagues, distinguished officials and the media. There’s a reason why Teacher magazine called it the “Oscars of Teaching”—new Milken Educators have even been asked for autographs by admiring students! And while the celebrity treatment is well-deserved, the Awards aren’t about the glitz and glamour. They’re about bringing attention to these classroom heroes; serving at once as validation, motivation and inspiration to current and future quality educators. The message: We recognize you. We value you. We thank you.

Congratulations to SHA's first National Honor Society Members inducted Oct. 2020!

Congratulations to Ms. Walts and Mr. Howes for both receiving a Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award (Feb. 2020) presented by Superintendent Warwick. Great job!
